About This Place

Located in the charming heart of Pacific Grove, Fourniers Bakery Cafe is a delightful haven for lovers of artisan baked goods and hearty sandwiches. Specializing in bakery and sandwich fare, this local gem crafts each item with a true passion for authentic flavors and textures that evoke warmth and comfort in every bite.

From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked pastries envelops you in a cozy embrace. Fourniers’ croissants are flawlessly flaky and buttery, their delicate layers yielding with a satisfying crispness that customers rave about. The cinnamon rolls—often heralded as the best in the area—strike the perfect balance of sweet, gooey indulgence without overwhelming richness. Meanwhile, the cherry Danish, adorned with just the right hint of streusel, and the bear claw filled with luscious almond paste are nothing short of joyous experiences that invite you to savor each bite slowly.

Beyond pastries, Fourniers also serves up comforting homemade soups and sandwiches that make for a fulfilling lunch stop. Whether you’re craving a classic sandwich or a steaming bowl of soup, you’ll find that same attentive craftsmanship reflected in every dish. Their fresh apple pie and coffee pie offer that quintessential taste of homestyle baking, perfect for pairing with one of their expertly brewed coffees—a cup rich and smooth, complementing each pastry beautifully.

The ambiance adds to the charm here: wide windows frame picturesque views of Pacific Grove’s iconic Victorian homes, while the soothing presence of classical music creates an inviting atmosphere perfect for relaxation or a casual meeting. It’s a cozy spot where locals and visitors alike feel at home, greeted with friendly smiles and the occasional dog greeting, reinforcing a genuine neighborhood vibe.

A quick heads-up: Fourniers Bakery Cafe operates on a cash-only basis, which preserves a quaint, personalized touch contrasting the corporate feel of larger chains. This little detail seems to enhance, rather than hinder, the experience—customers come prepared, eager to indulge in their favorite treats knowing they’ll be met with consistency and care.

Repeated visits from loyal patrons speak volumes: “We come to Pacific Grove 3 or 4 times a year and never miss a trip to this bakery,” says one enthusiastic customer. Another describes the olallieberry muffin as an absolute revelation—“OMG the olallieberry muffin was” simply unforgettable. Such heartfelt endorsements highlight Fourniers’ dedication to quality and community connection.

In a world where mass-produced pastries often lack soul, Fourniers Bakery Cafe stands as an ode to traditional baking done right. Whether you’re beginning your morning with a Danish and coffee, indulging in a sweet afternoon treat, or savoring a comforting lunch, this bakery promises an authentic, satisfying experience that lingers fondly in memory long after the last crumb is gone.

Excellent pastries, done the right way! Flaky and crisp on the outside and soft in the center. Tried the apple danish and croissant and it was perfection. Good coffee too, classical music, large windows with a view of Victorian homes make this the perfect place to relax.

On the road, I was looking for a blueberry muffin. Popped into Fourniers and was not expecting much as the ambiance is unremarkable. I purchased a blueberry muffin and then saw olallieberry muffins in a nearby case. I asked proprietor which was better - blueberry or olallieberry and he recommended the olallieberry, so I also purchased an olallieberry muffin. OMG -- the olallieberry muffin was superb!!! Loads of fruit -- not too sweet -- just the right size --- it was amazing! Blueberry was better than average, but if I'm ever in the area again, I'll be getting the olallieberry! Yum!

I had the most amazing cherry tart danish here, flaky crust, just the right amount of streusel around the edges. A pure joy to eat. The bear claw was also yum, with a delicious almond paste inside. Best we have ever had. A local brought his dogs by to say "Good morning" to Kevin & off he went to get special treats he took outside to them. So glad he is still baking as there is a touch to these pastries you can't get elsewhere. Baked with love.

I ordered the curry chicken half sandwich and really liked it! I'd never had curry chicken in a sandwich before but it was delicious. They serve it with a side of Kettle Chips so it was pretty filling for me as a mid to somewhat petitte woman. I highly recommend the place. The desserts look great too!
